Функция Холдейна — математическая формула, выведенная Дж. Б. С. Холдейном, которая выражает связь расстояния между генами на карте с частотой рекомбинаций. Ф. Х. показывает, что взаимосвязь расстояния между генами на хромосомной карте и того факта, что величина рекомбинации никогда не превышала 50%, неслучайна. Из Ф. Х. вытекает также, что отношение между частотой рекомбинаций и расстоянием между генами на карте имеет линейный характер для генов, которые рекомбинируют с частотой меньшей, чем 10%.
